The Los Angeles Children’s theater is proud to present the West Coast premiere of The Reluctant Dragon
The Reluctant Dragon opens Saturday, March 15 and runs through April 20 on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 am. A Dragon Faire with creative themed arts and crafts will take place April 19 and 20 after the Reluctant Dragon performances.
The Reluctant Dragon is a delightful children’s show featuring an enormous, fire-breathing Dragon who is really a shy, peaceful fellow who likes to write poetry, drink tea, and take afternoon snoozes. Unfortunately, he is a “Dragon” and dragons are supposed to terrorize villages and wreak havoc on humans.
Performed by our repertory company of professional actors, The Reluctant Dragon explores the themes of bullying, self-confidence, and self-esteem with a positive, empowering message. Filled with magical effects, colorful costumes, and a valuable moral lesson, LACT’s production is a perfect way for children to enjoy a live stage experience in an intimate 49-seat theatrical setting that is both enriching and memorable.
On the final weekend of The Reluctant Dragon, April 19 and 20, a festive Dragon Faire will follow the show’s performance at 2 pm. The Faire will feature delightful enriching Kidz Klub workshops in “dragon” origami, “dragon” collage, and “dragon” face-painting.
Tickets for The Reluctant Dragon are $10 with half-price preview performances on March 15 and 16. Tickets to The Dragon Faire and Kidz Klub workshops are $30 and are available on a limited first-come-first served basis. Tickets to the Dragon Faire and a performance of The Reluctant Dragon combined are $35.
